Come and join Lauren Deluca and Shasta Rayne Harner on World of Pain. We will be discussing the HHS Pain Management Best Practices Task Force report. In todays episode, we will be taking a look at the task force recommendations specifically surrounding sickle cell disease and specified populations such as our veterans. Also included is a look at Abt Associates, the role they played in the redesigning of pain care and how it would be managed; in particular, opioid prescribing and the Six Building Blocks. We also look at the cost of pain to society as well as the incidence rate of addiction in chronic pain patients while we question what is really behind this push to change how painful diseases/injuries are managed and cared for.
