Nature can be so healing. Spending time in nature brings about a sense of peacefulness.. Tuning into the senses, the smell of the flowers and grass, the sounds of the ocean and the birds, the feel of dirt beneath my fingertips and grass beneath my toes, all of these things bring me into the present moment, taking me away from my pain. If getting out in nature isn’t feasible or available to you, taking a few minutes out of your day to put your toes in the grass, and tuning into your senses is enough. Being exposed to nature brings out feelings of relaxation, lowers blood pressure, and reduces cortisol, our stress hormone, calming the nervous system. This sense of calm can help reduce feelings of pain, anxiety, and depression.
